The League to Save Lake Tahoe (the League, a.k.a. Keep Tahoe Blue) is looking for a development associate to be part of a successful fundraising and donor experience team, and to join our creative, fun and outstanding crew of environmental and nonprofit experts. This is a great opportunity for a meticulous and efficient professional to play a key role in successful nonprofit fundraising.

The Development Associate (DA) will join the Keep Tahoe Blue team in South Lake Tahoe to help grow the development department through data management by supporting the donor engagement process at the League. With supervision, the DA will accurately process, enter and track donor and supporter information in a CRM platform, ensuring development staff, leadership and board members are fully supported in fundraising and donor cultivation.

The perfect DA candidate is detail-oriented, skilled in database use, committed to the importance of donor appreciation, and able to support the development department with general support.

The Development Associate is a full-time, hourly position working from our headquarters in South Lake Tahoe, California. Due to the nature of the position, you will primarily be working in the office from 9:00 am - 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday with some evening and weekend work depending on organization and event schedules and needs.

What the position involves:

  • Accurately entering contributions and member information into the database on a timely basis.
  • Coordinating all aspects of donor acknowledgement, including thank you mail, thank you comments on social media platforms, and supporting the League’s staff and board of directors in the personalized thank you process.
  • Working confidently in the CRM database, including running reports and using donor information to answer questions from staff.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of donor information.
  • Supporting the development department through all aspects of the donor engagement process, including pulling information from the database at a moment’s notice, and becoming well acquainted with donors and trends.
  • Creating new records and updating current records in the database.
  • Assisting with data importing into the database, including the League’s programmatic and volunteer information.
  • Ensuring organization and tidiness of all development supplies and materials, and alerting the supervisor when stock is running low.
  • Assisting with solicitation and event mailings, including membership, events, donor acquisition, etc.
  • Maintaining gift batch files, physical and network files, Google Drive membership files and a sample development binder.
  • Providing administrative support to the development department.
  • Assisting the finance department in ensuring membership and financial records match.
  • Supporting the development team as necessary with other duties that may arise.
  • Serving as a professional and knowledgeable representative of the League and the development department when interacting with members, donors, guests and staff.
  • Supporting the execution of the annual benefit event, including reservation tracking and overseeing the silent and live auctions.


Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • An interest in environmental conservation and the League’s mission to protect, restore and advocate for the ecological health and scenic beauty of the Lake Tahoe Basin.
  • Understanding of database systems and proficiency with data entry.
  • Commitment to maintaining a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality in data.
  • Experience with professionally engaging donors and supporters.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting and with diverse individuals.
  • Proficiency with Windows, the Office 365 suite and Google Apps.
  • High degree of organization in setting appropriate priorities, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple projects and relationships simultaneously.
  • Team player with willingness to perform activities at all levels necessary.
  • Possesses good judgment and works well with others.
  • Willing and available for occasional weekend work.


League-specific requirements
:

  • Employees are required to have a current COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Employees are required to have a vehicle that is in good working order, proof of valid driving license, non-expired vehicle registration, and effective insurance coverage.
  • Travel around the Tahoe Basin, San Francisco Bay Area, Reno and Sacramento may be required.
  • Position requires some physical activity, such as bending, stooping, carrying and lifting up to 40 pounds.
